After 2 and a half years of Industrial Action to secure better working conditions for teachers and therefore better outcomes for children and families, a Heads of Agreement is now secured.
It addresses the key issues of workload, salaries and career structure and will underpin the new agreements that educators are employed under. This Agreement was reached on August 13, 2015. We are so thrilled that our bargaining and protest, along with the Australian Education Union has achieved such a positive outcome with the Early Learning Association Australia, the Municipal Association of Victoria and the Fair Work Commission.
It has resulted in pay parity for early childhood educators with school teachers, an annual 3% pay increase, an upfront salary increase, including back-pay to August 13, 2015, increased leave for co-educators and a reorganisation of career structure and validation requirements.
